A few words about building bridges …

From Hope Johnson, co-chair:

Democrats and progressives understandably have strong feelings about the state of our nation. All emotions, except those that promote hurting others, are valid.

Lately, I've seen a lot of “FAFO” (here’s an article if you don’t know what it means). I get it! But moving forward, we need to grow the number of voters who share our values. Many people across our state are struggling right now. Some didn’t vote in November and some voted for the Republicans. Either way, the Republican policies in Washington and Des Moines are hurting people across the political spectrum.

I’m NOT saying you need to argue with MAGA Republicans—don’t waste your energy there! But we DO need to welcome those affected by these policies who may be open to supporting progressive candidates in the future. If you need to say “FAFO” privately, go ahead. But to win back seats, let’s focus on being empathetic and kind to those willing to learn how Democrats are working to solve real problems.

Here’s a link to a TikTok on this topic. (Language warning for the end.)
