Neighbor-to-Neighbor Connections

Thank you to all who supported and participated in our Neighbor-to-Neighbor Community Connections event last Tues, 2/25. Twenty neighbors attended our gathering at the Waukee Public Library where we assembled 300 preschool snack packs for WayPoint Resources. These will go out to preschool students this week. We also wrote 340 postcards in support of Nannette Griffin in the March 11 HD100 special election and wrote notes of thanks to State Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott, State Representative Kenan Judge, and our wonderful librarians at the Waukee Public Library. Nice work, Neighbors!

We Advocate

Make Your Voice Heard

We know many of you advocate daily in response to what is happening at the federal and state levels. Thank you to all who take the time to contact legislators, share information with your circle, or show up at the Capitol to attend committee meetings, hearings, or protests. We can all do something to make our voices heard!  A group of SEDCD Neighbor-to-Neighbor volunteers were at the state Capitol on Monday and Thursday last week to protest the bill removing gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act.

Gather with Neighbors

Eight neighbors attended our impromptu Coffee Listening Session this past Saturday at Smokey Row.  This event was scheduled at the very last minute after SF418 passed on Thursday. We apologize that not everyone may have been able to see the Facebook invite in time.  We wish to help facilitate more of these smaller group meet-ups regularly and with advance notice.  Please share your availability via this form and stay tuned for ways to connect with your neighbors!

Help Amplify the Message

How can you help amplify the voices of state and local elected leaders, advocacy groups, and other Democrat groups? We can all do our part to help share the good Iowans are doing for our state, help educate our neighbors on how bad legislation will affect them and their loved ones, and encourage involvement with advocacy by staying informed and contacting our legislators.

Please ensure you are following our Southeast Dallas County Democrats Facebook account and look for posts that share information about social media accounts to follow.  Liking, commenting on, and sharing social media posts help boost the visibility of posts so more Iowans see the information in their feeds.  You can also make some small setting changes to ensure SEDCD posts -- and the posts of other pages your follow --  more frequently appear in your feed (see below).
