More on our guest speakers:

Michelle Townsend

TOPIC: Medicare, Medicaid, and what proposed cuts may look like for Iowans.

Michelle Townsend (she/her) is an attorney with 20+ years of experience in healthcare, data privacy, government & regulatory affairs, and technology. She currently leads an international team of over 110 members across eight countries. Michelle serves on several non-profit boards focused on food rescue, social justice, anti-censorship, higher education, and the arts. She loves indie bookstores, traveling with her family, filling community fridges, and attempting to keep her houseplants alive.

Lexi Farber

TOPIC: New 35(ish) and under(ish) group

Lexi Farber is a lifelong Iowan who grew up in Oskaloosa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2013.
She now lives in Waukee with her husband, Chris, and their energetic 4 (almost 5) year-old son, Sullivan. Passionate about community involvement, Lexi is currently focused on creating a vibrant space for younger Democrats in Dallas County through a new 35(ish) & under group. She will share more about this group and the first event planned for April 17.

Michael Schrodt

Topic: Property tax laws and the impact on our schools

Michael Schrodt is president of the Waukee School Board. The state legislature is in the process of making significant changes to Iowa's property tax laws. These changes will impact how counties, cities, and schools will collect revenue. We are still learning the full impact of how these changes will impact the Waukee Community School District. We need to be fully engaged in the process to make sure all stakeholders are heard.
